This contract was for Girling & Kind who were the primary landscaping contractors for the London Borough of Merton.

 The work was overseen by both Merton Groundwork and The National Trust.

 Just Metal supplied the gates and railings for the front, side and rear of the park.

 I also supplied the knee rail for the refurbishment of the water fountain.

Galvanised metal edging was also supplied by Just Metal for use as a border for the grass edging behind the main entrance brick wall.

The origin design of the posts for the wall top railing called for the use of 50mm box section.

However The National Trust wanted a more Victorian design and asked Just Metal to change the design to 50mm solid square section. This gave a crisper edge, much more in keeping with a Victorian theme.

To give the caps at the top a crisper edge, Just Metal further suggested fitting them by drilling & tapping so that no welds would be visible.

The gate hinges were made in the journal and pin technique to match those on the many Victorian gates found throughout London.

Finally, the finials on the top of the gates were hand forged by Just Metal to create the finish required by the Merton Groundwork design.
